Mixed Age Karate

Our mixed age karate classes in Bearsden and Kirkintilloch are ideal for families or individuals who enjoy training together in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

Open to children, teens, and adults, these sessions follow the Traditional Shotokan syllabus and support all levels of experience. Families can train side by side while developing fitness, focus and shared goals in a supportive and community-focused setting.

We offer two different karate classes for mixed ages; our Family-Friendly (age 6+), and our Mixed Age (age 9+).

Brown & Black Belt Classes

Our advanced classes are designed for brown and black belt students looking to deepen their knowledge and refine their skills.

We offer dedicated syllabus sessions focused on advanced kihon, kumite, and grading preparation, alongside specialised kata classes that explore form, application (bunkai), and performance.

These classes challenge students to sharpen technique, develop precision, and pursue excellence in both traditional and competitive karate.

Kata Classes

The art of kata, or forms, are a fundamental part of Traditional Japanese Karate and has been used as a training tool since the very beginning.

You will learn the technical elements of kata and their bunkai (practical meaning and application of moves) to help take your performance and learning to the next level.

We offer specific kata classes for coloured belts, and brown & black belts.

Sparring Classes

Fast paced and dynamic, these classes focus on “Sport Karate” rather than Traditional Japanese Karate.

Learn techniques and tactics to discover your own fighting style. Using partner work, pad work and fitness drills you will work to become the best fighter you can be!

These classes are suitable for beginners and more advanced students.

We offer sparring classes for Juniors (age 6-11), and Seniors (age 12+).

Pads & Bags

female karate bearsden

A high-intensity striking session focused on power, precision, and contact.

In this class, students sharpen their fighting techniques through pad work, heavy bag drills, and high-impact combinations. Designed for ages 12+, it’s ideal for building strength, speed, and real-world application in a controlled, high-contact environment.

Flex & Flow

Improve your mobility, range of motion, and overall body control in this focused flexibility session.

Designed for students aged 12 and up, this class combines dynamic and static stretching techniques to enhance performance, reduce injury risk, and support your martial arts training. All levels welcome.

Private Lessons

Work 1-to-1 with the coach of your choice, on the area you want to work on!

Got a grading coming up and you want more focussed coaching?

Perhaps you are training for a competition and need more one on one time.

Or even, you’re keen to try karate but not quite ready to join one of our classes.

Our 45 minute private lessons ensure you have completely focussed time on you.

Please note: for students under 16, parents / guardians are required to stay on the premises.

Competition Squad Training

These monthly sessions focus primarily on preparing students for WKF sport competition karate. From technical knowledge and skill, physical conditioning, scoring & rules and mindset, we nurture our athletes to shine on the competitive stage.

Students are selected for our Athlete Development Program twice yearly, at the beginning of each competition season.

However, students can attend these monthly classes at any point in the year as preparation for the next selections.

Open Mat Kata

A self-guided training session dedicated to kata practice. Students can use this time to refine their form, explore advanced sequences, and focus on personal progress at their own pace. Ideal for those looking to deepen their understanding and execution of kata.

Coaches will be on the premises, but these sessions are not coached.
